Presenter Biography

Currently, Char Cieply is an educational consultant for Bellwood School District and the West 40 ROE/ISC in which she facilitates professional development opportunities, aligns curriculum with standards, and supports schools in examining data and developing work plans. Previously she supported the educational improvement process as a Coach for educational leaders at the district and school level through the American Institutes for Research/Illinois Center for School Improvement. Prior to this position, she was the Associate Director of the Reading Center at National Louis University and an adjunct professor in the Master of Education/Reading Specialist Program. In addition, she has consulted with various Illinois school districts and contributed to several federal and state projects related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. For 34 years, she has served in the pubic school system as an Assistant Superintendent, Director of Language Arts, Reading Specialist, and classroom teacher. Throughout her career she has presented at the National, State, and local level. Char believes that education improves the quality of life and that teachers are the keepers of children’s dreams. Because of the education opportunities afforded Char, she was able to make her childhood dream come true of becoming a teacher. Whether teaching children or adults, she has always loved her work.
