Presenter Biography

Kathleen is currently the Assistant Executive Director at South Cook ISC. Most of her work has revolved around working with schools and districts to design and implement school improvement plans with an expertise in the area of reading. She also works with beginning teachers and mentors. Kathleen has a Reading Specialist endorsement and often works with principals and teachers creating and observing the literacy blocks in grades K-8.

Before joining South Cook, Kathleen served in a variety of roles in schools, districts and on the state level. She was the statewide coordinator for Comprehensive School Reform and the Regional Reading First Coordinator for Illinois State Board of Education. She was a Title I Director and Reading Specialist in South Cook County along with educational experiences in California and Las Vegas.
