Presenter Biography

Trish Guinee has 34 years of public school teaching and administration experience. In 2013 she retired from Peoria Public School District 150. From 2005-2013 she was the PreK-12 Mathematics Coordinator. Her teaching experience includes 14 years teaching middle school and high school mathematics as well 11 years teaching 2nd-8th grade special education. While teaching, Trish served on school, district, and state mathematics committees.
In 2002 Trish earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Illinois State University. During her time at Illinois State She taught the Elementary and the Early Childhood Math Methods courses to pre-service teachers.
From 2013-present, Trish has been a mathematics consultant. An experienced professional development provider, Trish brings a wealth of knowledge to a variety of settings which include workshop facilitation, classroom coaching and modeling, developing/supporting teachers in professional learning communities, and conference presentations. She also has years of experience in standards-based curriculum development and alignment.

Additional Qualifications

Trish was the Area 3 Foundational Services Math Coordinator as well as a Service Provider for ROE 53, 26/33. Trish earned National Board Teacher Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics in 2004. She is the recipient of a number of teaching awards including the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award and Peoria Public School’s Don Phares Award which is given annually to an outstanding teacher. In 2012 Trish was recognized as one of the 25 Women in Leadership in Central Illinois based on her work in promoting mathematics and supporting teachers in the Peoria schools.
