Presenter Biography
Debra has contributed to the field of education in various capacities working with students from birth through college over the past 30 years including general education teacher, special education teacher, teacher consultant, instructional coach, special education director, building administrator, and university instructor. She presents at the local, state, and national level. Her area of expertise is in developmentally appropriate practices and strategies for Pre-K through 3rd grade including the implementation of purposeful, intentional play and project-based learning. She has also presented on numerous instructional strategies for English Language Arts including reading and writing workshop, shared reading, interactive read aloud with purposeful talk, vocabulary, informational texts, open-ended questioning, effective reading and writing conferences, and use of mentor texts for grades K-8.
