AA2001: Initial Teacher Evaluator Qualification

Participants will learn how to demonstrate a high rate of inter-rater reliability using the required performance evaluation ratings; observe instruction competently in multiple subject areas; communicate evaluation outcomes in constructive and supportive ways; and use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating professional practice and student growth.
This two-day Administrator Academy (March 5-6, 2020) replaces Growth Through Learning and is required for future administrators who need the designation in order to evaluate staff (per ISBE). This is the INITIAL Evaluation Training, not a RE-training.

Your presenter will contact you via email with coursework that is necessary to take and receive credit for this class 2 weeks prior to the event. In order to receive the required coursework you must register with the following:

In addition, participants will use assessments and measurement models identified by the Joint Committee in determining the student growth attributable to individual teachers and learn how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth.
Participants must complete extensive pre-work prior to this Academy as well as additional work between the first and second day. A deep understanding of Danielson’s 2013 Framework for Teaching is essential for success in the course.
On the afternoon of the second day, there will be a rigorous online assessment. The assessment includes viewing a video of classroom teaching, gathering evidence, aligning evidence to the components of the Framework for Teaching, and rating professional practice using Danielson’s Levels of Performance.
Participants must pass the assessment to become a qualified evaluator and to receive Administrator Academy credit. Those who do not pass will receive PD Hours.

*Participant may have until 6:00PM to complete the assessment on the second day, if needed. We recommend participants make arrangements to stay in case the extra time is needed.
