Participants will: 1) articulate a conceptual understanding regarding the rationale and research for why classroom level assessment is critical for student achievement and establishing a balanced assessment system; 2) examine key attributes of valid, reliable, and credible classroom level assessments for reflecting on teaching practice, informing decisions about differentiation, and monitoring student achievement; and 3) analyze samples of classroom level assessments – some of which violate good assessment design and some that are valid, reliable, and credible – and begin to draft assessment for local classroom use.
